OLD GENERATION V/S NEW GENERATION
Nowadays, we
are living in a world that has been changing all the time, so we have to adapt
ourselves to the changes. We interact with a lot of people from different
generations, such as our parents or grandparents. Consequently, there are many
differences between our generation and our parent’s generation, which are
communication, education, and lifestyle.
The first
difference between people in the new generation and people in the old
generation is how they communicating. People in the new generation are used to
contacting other people almost immediately. For example, if young people want
to contact their friends that are lived in different countries, they usually
contact their friends immediately by using their mobile phones. Moreover,
people in the new generation are focused more on communicating with their
friends, colleagues and families. Teenagers in the new generation spend most of
their time chatting with their friends on their mobile phones or chatting
online more than doing anything else. On the other hand, people from the older
generation accustomed to writing letters to contact other people that are far
away. Furthermore, they like deal with other people face to face. All in all,
people in the new generation communicate differently than people in the old
generation.
Secondly,
one of the reasons why people in my generation and my parent’s generation are
different is because of education. Most people in my generation tend to have at
least a bachelor’s degree. In other words, they cannot work until they have an
appropriate education. In contrast, people in my parent’s generation did not
have a lot of opportunities to study. In the past, only rich people would had
the opportunities to study. Also, people in my parent’s generation focused more
on working than studying. Thus, people in my generation have a higher education
than people in my parent’s generation.
The final
difference between people that are my age and people that are my parent’s age
is lifestyle. People in my generation enjoy easier lives. For example, when
some young people graduate from universities, they may not have to work
immediately. They can sit around at home and do nothing because they parents
are willing to support them. Furthermore, people that are my age are able to
make up their minds spontaneously. They do not have to be concerned too much
about their future plans. On the other hand, people that are my parent’s age
tended to have harder lives and also they were born in a tough time, such as
WW2. When they wanted something, they had to work really hard to achieve the
things they wanted. To sum up, people that are my age have more comfortable
lives than people that are my parent’s age.
In
conclusion, communication, education and lifestyle are the differences between
our generation and our parent’s generation. However, every generation always
has something unique that has its own advantages and drawbacks, but the most
important thing that every generation gives valuable lessons to the next
generation.
